Reading the scriptures, praying and having Family Home Evening (which I'll post about soon), are 3 very important things for us to do on a regular basis if we want to stay close to Heavenly Father and have the Holy Ghost as our constant companion -- guiding our steps and helping us stay in a "safe zone".
In the video below, Elder Holland talks about thinking carefully about our daily actions.
Will those we love be happy to hear about what we are doing?
Or will they be deeply saddened?
If there's something amiss in your actions, repent, talk to your Bishop, and take the necessary steps BACK to safety. : )
Don't worry about being embarrassed. Don't worry about all that you've done. Yes, it's done.
Choose to stop and turn around, confess and make your way back.
Yes, it might be a bit bumpy upon re-entry, but it will be totally worth the effort. It will get you out of a place that is NOT good.
If repentance and forgiveness were not possible -- if we truly could not be cleansed from our sins -- even though they are as red as crimson -- then we wouldn't be told about what Jesus did for us.
We would be told that we don't qualify for his Atonement.
However -- we are told that we CAN qualify for his Atonement.
All we need to do it stop what we're doing and repent!
He has open arms for us. He is READY for us to start again, and to stay on the path toward God so that we can live with Him again.
God wants all of his children to return to him -- battered, bruised, banged-up and all. He wants us back.
Go back.
Come back.
Back-up. Put your gears in reverse and then head toward God.
Pray for help. God is VERY powerful, and will give you the strength you are praying for.
Keep trying every day make good choices. Lots of little good choices will get you to where you really want to be.
Smile! Breathe! You can do it. We're all in this together.
